Guadalupe Series - Lupita with Mariposas
About the Design
Our Lady of Guadalupe is a sacred symbol for many around the world. She is the Patron Saint of Mexico and Patron Saint of women and girls named Guadalupe and Lupita. She has roots in both the Catholic Church and indigenous religions of Latin America, making her a powerful entity of
divine wisdom and love. In this design, Mexican American artist Emily Lupita paints a self-portrait and mixes it with traditional Lady of Guadalupe symbolism and butterflies.
